In an April 2 meeting, members of the Bond Advisory Committee identified the priorities they think are important to the students, families, staff and community members they represent. Then, they began to discuss in small groups which projects might align with or support the priorities they would like to see addressed. This was the committee’s sixth meeting out of eight.  

The King County Office of Emergency Management recently gifted 20 Bleed Control Kits to the district for use in our schools in the event of an emergency. Each Bleed Control Kit comes with eight individual bleeding control packs. This grant is worth approximately $17,000.

The Special Services Department is hosting a presentation for parents of students with disabilities on the topic of Financial Strategies and Estate Planning. The session will be from 5:30-7 p.m. on April 25 via Zoom. Details enclosed.

The Issaquah School District is seeking interested individuals to serve on our new Technology Advisory Committee. The committee will review the district's Technology Plan, provide feedback and expertise on our goals, and inform future planning.  We are seeking middle and high school students, district staff, school administrators, and parents/guardians. In addition, we would like to have technology industry representation, area employers, and community members.  

Before Spring Break, we received our first report of a bear sighting near one of our schools in the district. It's a good reminder: We live in an area that is home to coyotes, bears, bobcats, cougars, and other animals. Animal activity in our area increases during the spring months. We are providing a few tips for families, students, staff and the community regarding wildlife safety.

The next Instructional Materials Committee meeting will be from 4:15-6:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 18. Details are enclosed.

As a reminder, district schools will be closed for Spring Break from April 8-12, 2024. We look forward to seeing our students back at school on Monday, April 15!

A total solar eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8. In Washington, a partial eclipse will be visible during the morning hours from approximately 10:39 to 11:29 a.m. We want to remind families about the importance of eclipse safety.
