Access to campus during the school day

general announcement

Safety at school is one of our main priorities. Beaver Lake Middle School has many perimeter gates, managed by the ISD Security and Custodial staff throughout the day.  We are aware that for some members of our community there is confusion about access to our campus during the school day and we have appreciated the recent feedback on gate use, using it to refine the building plan with district staff.

Trail & field gates will typically be opened during the arrival and departure of students from both our own school and the neighboring Challenger Elementary School.  During the school day these gates will be secured and so any student walking to school late on a morning will need to find an alternative route into the front of their own school to sign in at the office:

-          For BLMS, this is on SE 32nd St.

-          For Challenger ES, this is on SE Klahanie Boulevard

While we secure our own facilities at the end of the day, community gates are left unlocked to ensure student access into local neighborhoods after all school or evening activities.

At times, for many specific situations, we may have to lock our campus access temporarily. We ask that neither students, nor adults, try to climb or force any gates if they are locked upon your approach. Should you need immediate access, you may contact John Swaitek, School Security Officer, at 425-837-4164 or the front office (Tel: 425-837-4150, selecting option 1).
