Supporting our teams: expectations & supervision 101!

extracurricular activities

Everyone wants to cheer for their school team - and every coach appreciates all the support!   The district does have a few guidelines to follow, however, and for high school events, parents are reminded that an adult must purchase tickets for students in Grades K-8 and take them through the gate AND that unsupervised middle school students are not permitted at their after-school events.

We operate the same policy here at BLMS and wanted to reiterate that, even when our own sports teams are having events after school, all non-competing students must leave campus promptly at 2.35 p.m.

Students are welcome to return after 3.15pm, with a supervising adult, to watch and cheer for their fellow Bulldogs!   There will be no entry into an after-school sporting event without an adult present, and students are expected to remain with that same adult until they have left the campus after the event. A supervising adult may be responsible for up to three grade K-8 students, in addition to their own children.

Please remember that, other than the allocated bathrooms for an event (typically those in the Commons, or the outside portable restroom), the rest of the building is closed to all spectators. We want to respect other events occurring at the same time and the many staff members, both teaching and custodial, who are often still working at this time in our building.

Whether we are competing at home or away, parents of those on the team should watch email carefully for communication from sports coaches both before and during the day of the event. Transportation arrangements, or last minute schedule changes, are all communicated DIRECTLY THROUGH FINAL FORMS. You may not receive a separate email from the school, as communications are limited to those participating in extracurricular sport.   Likewise, please use Final Forms to communicate with your student's coach, where necessary.

Additional information about behavioral expectations, can be found in the Student & Family Handbook available online or within every student planner.
