Student Handbook

The Bulldog Pledge: Together, we will embrace uncertainty, show up to support each other, grow together, and prioritize our connection to each other. We will navigate “moving through and moving forward” with grace, acceptance, humor, and calmness. Show up as you are, Bulldogs. You are enough.

Welcome

On behalf of the Beaver Lake Middle School staff, we would like to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! Our goal is to provide a safe and caring atmosphere, where ALL students experience a positive learning environment. We strongly encourage you to pursue excellence in your academic studies, become actively engaged in the co-curricular programs our school offers, and treat everyone at Beaver Lake Middle School with respect and kindness. The first section of our handbook includes the policies, procedures, and important information that are unique to Beaver Lake. The second section of the handbook is just as important, as it explains the policies, procedures and important information that is common across our district middle schools. Students, families, and staff are responsible for adhering to the content in both sections of the handbook. You may refer to our school website for an electronic version of the handbooks, with easy access to links and search features. Our website is also a good place to find updated contact information for staff, teacher websites, event dates, and more.

At BLMS, we are committed to equity and to providing the best education for every student. Strong academic achievement for all students in a healthy and supportive learning environment is paramount. Parents/guardians are crucial allies and partners in helping their child receive the best educational experience. This handbook provides useful information to help students and parents successfully navigate BLMS.

BLMS is the home of the Bulldogs. We are a welcoming and nurturing place serving all students, providing academic, social and emotional supports. BLMS is a community of learners where we value an atmosphere of civility and mutual respect. This is an inviting place to learn, grow, and to prepare for high school and beyond. I urge all students to make the strongest effort to take advantage of all your school has to offer. The more you put into your BLMS experience, the more you will take away from here. Your BLMS experiences will provide you with an educational foundation that will serve you well, throughout your lifetime.

Proud to be a Bulldog!

Sincerely,

Kathryn Coffin
